HARBON - An ice

sculpture featuring the famous Kokolkan pyramid in Mexico was unveiled Wednesday in China's largest ice-themed park in Harbin, the capital of northeastern China's Heilongjiang Province.

Spread over 440 square meters, the ice sculpture is 9.5 meters long and 20.9 meters long and 20 meters wide.  More than 500 sculptors worked on the sculpture in one week, which consumed 1,100 cubic meters of ice.

The original pyramid, located in the Chechen Atza archeological site in the state of Yucatٹنn, is a symbol of Maya architecture that originated in this place in southeastern Mexico and attracts the whole of China today.

In fact, the Chechen Atza Pyramid celebrated its 14th anniversary when it was recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, and has been a World Heritage Site since 1998.

The opening of the 23rd Ice and Ice World in Harbin is part of a series of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico.

Harbin Deputy Mayor Cheng Xiaoming said in a video link at the opening ceremony that the city is ready to take advantage of this opportunity to cooperate with various regions of Mexico in various aspects.

Mexico's ambassador to China, Jesus Seed, said in a video link that the inauguration "demonstrates the friendship and cooperation between the peoples and governments of the two countries, which will be brought closer by regular exchanges."
